SSC

SSC(Staff Selection Commission) is a government organization that recruits officers and clerks for various ministries and departments of the government of India and in subordinate offices. SSC has its headquarters located in New Delhi, but it also has seven Regional offices at Prayagraj, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Kolkata, etc.
SSC was founded on 4 November 1975 on recommendations of the 47th report of the estimates committee, which suggested that there must be an organization to recruit the lower and middle class.
SSC conducts various exams for the appointment of candidates in Grade “B” and “C” category posts at various Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices.

CGL(Combined Graduate Level)

CGL is the most popular exam of SSC which is conducted every year. It is conducted for the appointment of most of the Grade “B” and “C” category posts of the Central Government. SSC conducts CGL exam for various posts ranging salary from matrix pay level-8 to pay level-4.

Eligibility Criteria
AgeMax age is 30 years for the posts of most of the Group B posts & 27 years for most Group C posts.
QualificationBachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institute for most of the posts.

CHSL(Combined Higher Secondary Level)

This is also one of the most popular exams of SSC which is conducted every year.

The posts included in this exam with their pay scale:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Level-2
  • Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA): Pay Level-4
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO): Pay Level-4 and Level-5
  • Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’: Pay Level-4
Eligibility Criteria
Age18-27 years
QualificationFor LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA, DEO (except DEOs in C&AG): 12th pass
Data Entry Operator (DEO Grade ‘A’): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics

MTS(Multi-Tasking Staff)

SSC conducts this exam for the recruitment of non-technical Group C posts in all the departments except the ministerial posts of the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria
Age18-25 years in most of the recruitments.
Qualification10th pass

JEE(Junior Engineer Exam)

SSC conducts this exam to fill technical posts in government offices.

These technical posts are for those candidates who are from these engineering backgrounds:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

This exam is conducted to recruit Junor engineers in different government departments like:

  • MES (Military Engineering Services)
  • BRO (Border Road Organization)
  • Farakka Barrage Project

  • NTRO (National Technical Research Organization)

Junior engineer gets the salary of matrix pay level-6.

Eligibility Criteria
AgeMax age is 27 years or 32 years according to the different posts.

JHT(Junior Hindi Translator)

This exam is conducted for the recruitment of Hindi translators in various government offices.

Stenographer

This exam is conducted for the posts of:

  • Stenographer Grade C (Group B, Non-Gazetted): Pay Level-6
  • Stenographer Grade D (Group C): Pay Level-4

for various Ministries/Departments/Organizations in the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria
AgeMax age is 30 years for the Group B posts & 27 years for most Group C posts.

Constable (GD) exam

This exam is conducted for the recruitment of constables in:

DP & CAPF

This exam is conducted for the recruitment of sub-inspectors in:

  • DP(Delhi Police)
  • CAPF(Central Armed Police Force)
    • CRPF
    • BSF
    • ITBP
    • CISF
    • SSB

The posts carry a pay scale of Level-6 (Rs.35,400-1,12,400/-) and are classified as Group “B” (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial.

Age20-25 years

HeightMale: 170 cm, Female: 157 cm
